Companies, or any business for that matter, need some promotions. The usual line of thought though when it comes to promotions is to have advertisements, posters, newsletters, etc. Community involvement as a way for promoting does not always come to mind. However, it should because there are a lot to be gained upon involving in the community in terms of promotions. It will promote a better relationship between service or product providers and their clients. So whenever a celebration or other community event is up, for all you business people out there, you just have to get involved!

If you are still not convinced as to what the benefits community involvement can offer to your promotions department, take a look at these reasons. Constant or at least an often enough presence in the community can ensure getting to know clients in the neighborhood and networking with them. With community involvement, you can build up better public relations at a low cost. It is better for a business to help out in improving the quality of living within the community. That way the customer base that is going to be built for the business is sure to be a huge and loyal one.

Is there a chamber of commerce near you? If there is, it is best to take advantage of that by joining in. If there is not one in your immediate area, it is still highly beneficial to become a member in the chamber of commerce nearest you. This is because a membership has more benefits than what is apparent. Aside from having a directory listing, a business can also get more local advertising opportunities. Never mind the stale coffee you get every meeting, there will be plenty of networking chances and discounts for some business-to-business transactions.

Exercise ‘cause marketing’. This means helping out in a community’s charity institutions. Basically, a business name is linked with a charity. Businesses can sponsor, donate, or do other things that can advertise the business and at the same time improve the charity institution. In fact, this marketing approach is becoming the standards where bigger firms are concerned. Still, promoting a business through helping charity institutions is not only for larger companies. Small businesses can also benefit from the idea. It is a winning situation for both parties too, for the business and the charity. Both sides can gain many benefits from the arrangement.

Community involvement promotion ideas are not restricted to charities and big community events. This can be done in a smaller scale like the handing out of free samples or information. Parades, presentations and floats could do the job as well. A business can also sponsor a sports team in the locale. All these ways can help promote a business and of course they are definite community involvement. When engaging in these promotions, it is important to remember a few things. The activities to be held should be those that show your business’ purpose and vision. Creativity, commitment, and media friendliness will help a lot.
